Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to resolve them. If none of these help, email support and describe what you hear.
I hear nothing
- Check that playback is running in the Global panel.
- Confirm the correct audio output device is selected in settings.
- Check the channel is not muted and that its volume is above zero.
- If probability is set very low, a pattern can play only occasionally — raise it temporarily to confirm.
- Make sure the pattern actually crosses a trigger point as it moves.
Audio crackles or drops out
- Increase the audio buffer size in settings.
- Reduce the number of active patterns or lower the tempo.
- Close other audio applications that hold the same device.
- On laptops, switch to a high-performance power profile.
My DAW receives no MIDI
- Enable MIDI output in the MIDI panel and select a destination.
- On macOS, enable the IAC Driver in Audio MIDI Setup and choose it as the destination.
- On Windows, install a virtual MIDI port such as loopMIDI and select it.
- Check the channel numbers match between Synscape and the receiving track.
- Arm the receiving track for recording or monitoring.
Timing feels loose
- Lower the audio buffer size for tighter response.
- Confirm tempo matches your DAW.
- Use quantised timing on the pattern if you need strict placement.
Export produces an empty file
- Make sure at least one pattern played during the recorded range.
- Check that the exporting channel is not muted.
- Record for a full musical phrase before exporting.
The application will not start
- On macOS, open the app once from the right-click menu to approve it, and confirm you are on a supported macOS version.
- On Windows 10 or 11, allow the installer through SmartScreen and reinstall.
- Update your graphics drivers — the canvas is GPU accelerated.
