Generative MIDI Sequencer

A Generative MIDI Sequencer You Can See

SynScape transforms movement into melodies, rhythms and harmonies. Build visual systems, shape how they behave and hear the result unfold in real time.

Use SynScape by itself as a visual music instrument, or send its MIDI directly into your DAW. Instead of programming every note, you create the conditions from which music can emerge.

Compose behaviours instead of notes

A traditional sequencer begins with an empty grid. SynScape begins with movement.

Choose a visual pattern and shape its motion, scale, note sets, timing, velocity, probability and note length. Every crossing, collision and orbit can become a musical event. Small visual changes produce new melodic, harmonic and rhythmic possibilities.

SynScape is not an AI song generator and does not create a finished song for you. You design the system, guide its musical boundaries and decide which discoveries are worth keeping.

Fifteen ways to generate movement

Explore fifteen pattern types, including polygons, pendulums, orbits, spirals, flocking, cellular automata, DNA helixes and tree growth. Each pattern turns motion into music in its own way.

Layer up to twelve patterns simultaneously, with independent instruments and MIDI channels. The result can remain calm and spacious or become complex and unpredictable—the direction stays in your hands.

From movement to your DAW

  1. Create movement — Choose visual patterns and shape how they travel, collide, orbit and evolve.
  2. Define the musical space — Select instruments, scales, note sets, timing, velocity, probability and note length.
  3. Listen and respond — Hear the music emerge in real time, then adjust the system by eye and ear.
  4. Send or export MIDI — Route MIDI live into your DAW or export MIDI files for arranging and production.
  5. Keep what you discover — Develop the strongest ideas using your favourite instruments, effects and workflow.

SynScape works alongside MIDI-compatible DAWs, including Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Bitwig Studio, Cubase, Studio One and Reaper.

Standalone or connected

SynScape is a standalone application, not a VST or AU plugin. Use its included instruments, load your own instruments inside SynScape, or send MIDI to instruments and plugins in your DAW.

  • Play with SynScape’s included instruments
  • Load your own instruments
  • Send MIDI live to a DAW or external instrument
  • Export MIDI for further arrangement
  • Record audio, video and MIDI
  • Create offline after activation

Compatibility note: SynScape supports Apple Silicon Macs only (M1 or newer) and Windows 10 or Windows 11. Intel Macs are not currently supported.

Designed for discovery

  • Ambient and generative musicians — Create evolving systems that develop without repeating in exactly the same way.
  • Electronic music producers — Find ideas outside the familiar piano-roll workflow.
  • Composers facing creative block — Replace an empty timeline with movement and immediate musical feedback.
  • Experimental musicians and sound designers — Use controlled unpredictability to discover unexpected performances.
  • Visual thinkers and beginners — Work by eye and ear while scales and note sets define the musical space.

Frequently asked questions

What is a generative MIDI sequencer?

A generative MIDI sequencer creates MIDI from rules, behaviours or probabilities instead of requiring every note to be entered manually. In SynScape, visual movement generates the MIDI while you control the musical boundaries.

Is SynScape a VST or AU plugin?

No. SynScape is a standalone application. Use it by itself or send MIDI to instruments and plugins inside your DAW.

Can SynScape control instruments in my DAW?

Yes. Route MIDI from SynScape into a MIDI-compatible DAW and match the MIDI channels, or export MIDI files and import them into your project.

Do I need music theory to use SynScape?

No. Choose a root note, scale and note set, and SynScape keeps the generated notes within that musical space.
